The movement platform, based on the Stewart Principle, makes it possible to simulate spatial movements like those generated by automotive driving and flight simulators. Thus it is possible to simultaneously show the test persons pictures while simulating spatial movements of the body: the test person is buckled into a seat and views a virtual scene created by a computer on a screen in front of him. For its part, the platform can move with six degrees of freedom, namely in three directions with simultaneous axial rotation. These six directions can be freely combined with one another, thus permitting movement in all directions. The test person can actively guide these movements with a joystick. The computer simultaneously calculates in real time, i.e. without any perceptible delay, both the scene which is shown and the spatial movement of the platform.
