In this talk, Dr. Chugh will share the lessons, challenges, and opportunities that shaped his journey, and discuss how early career scientists can build careers that reflect their own values, strengths, and aspirations. Drawing on his work in higher education, leadership positions at mission-driven scholarly publishing organizations, and mentorship, he will encourage attendees to rethink traditional definitions of academic success and explore how to build a meaningful career, on their own terms. About the speaker:
From earning his PhD at the University of Tübingen and the Max Planck Institute for (Developmental) Biology, to postdoc at Harvard Medical School, and now serving as an Assistant Professor in Teaching-Track and Director of Applied Molecular Biology graduate program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Dr. Mayank Chugh has embraced an unconventional path through research, teaching, advocacy, and science policy.
